Our Centre provides accommodation, meals, nursing assistance, social and personal care and have professional registered nurses and experienced care assistants in constant attendance day and night, which makes an ideal solution for the elderly. A real sense of community exists in our home, while independence and dignity are always respected. Our Executive Care Manager places great emphasis on continuous education and all our care staff receive training in industry best practice programmes. Regular meetings and social gatherings are organised for families and residents and we find these activities form an essential support network.
Low Level Care (Hostel)Living with a sense of independence safe in the knowledge that care is close at hand, the just completed Brolga Wing accommodates residents with a Low Care assessment. The Hostel features 15 one-bedroom units, some with their own balcony offering privacy and comfort. Each unit has a generous ensuite bathroom, telephone & internet access, flat screen TV, bar fridge and built-in kitchenette. The electronically operated bed is state of the art. A personal emergency device is provided for your security. The Brolga wing features separate lounge and dining rooms. The private lounge offers a place for Residents to socialise, entertain visitors, read or watch TV with other Residents.
High Level Care (Nursing Home)For Residents with a High Care assessment, 24 hours-a-day nursing care is provided for 88 Residents accommodated in mostly two bed shared rooms located on the ground floor Cockatoo wing or the first floor Kookaburra wing. The wings are connected by two lifts and feature comfortable lounge and dining rooms as well as large outdoor courtyards and balconies.
Special Needs (Dementia)In recognition of the unique needs of people with dementia the Rosella Wing was created to house a special care facility to address the specific needs of our Residents suffering from dementia or other cognitive impairment. In accordance with leading edge research and international best practice, the Rosella wing has been designed to support the use of smaller spaces, maintaining a friendly and protected ‘home-like' environment. The combined lounge and dining area is more domestic in nature providing for higher levels of support and enhancing Resident comfort and sense of security. There is also a separate large and secure outdoor area. Activity programs are specifically designed to meet the needs of Residents in either early or late stages of Dementia.

The room has been set up to afford family members privacy and the flexibility to stay overnight if they wish. The room is furnished with a sofa bed and television. Tea and coffee making facilities are close by. Staff work closely with family, friends and carers to give them in-depth personal support throughout the resident's illness and into the period of loss.
Ageing in Place PolicySt George Aged Care Centre supports ‘ageing in place' which means we endeavour to continue to provide a Resident's care needs within their existing environment wherever possible. At times, it is appropriate to transfer a Resident to another part of the Center, such as from Hostel to Nursing Home, or to our Special Care Unit. This is always done in consultation with the Resident and their relatives as well as their medical care team.
